An enchanting array of blue turquoise lakes presenting an arc over snow-capped mountains is what Everest Gokyo Lake Trekking is all about. Trekking in the Everest region is certainly one of the most alluring and extravagant adventurous activity in this region. Presenting a charm of glorified existence is the Gokyo Valley at (4,750m) is simply breathtaking. Trekking in this region is all about getting a never ending glimpse of marvelous ice-ridges, panoramas of summits and dozens of different peaks An amazing feature in context to this phenomenon is the view of Cho-oyu and Gyachung (2920m) located in the Khumbu region. Overlooking beautiful tarns to its northern side, Gokyo RI, makes a strong claim to be one of the splendid viewpoints in the Everest region along with four 8000m peaks and numerous other 6000m peaks that cloud the horizon.

Everest Gokyo Lake Trek begins with sightseeing and a preparation day in Kathmandu upon arrival along with adequate rest. The very next day we take a mountain flight to the Lukla Airport. The actual trekking starts from here on and we move slowly but steadily taking a steep ascent towards the Sherpa village located in the wonderful Namche Bazaar, a bustling mini mountainous city carrying its age old tradition and legacy with its daily routines for survival. Mountain vistas are prevalent everywhere to the amazement of the visitors. Moving further we reach as far as Dole and Machhermo, a place beaming with spectacular mountains, an excellent place to get a deep insight into the villages and the lifestyle of the inhabitants staying for centuries on these high altitudes is awesome. Among all these activities we unknowingly reach the Gokyo seemingly enjoying the breathtaking wonder of Ngozumpa Glacier. A small settlement of Gokyo exists on the banks of small turquoise cobalt blue lakes and on the ridge above Gokyo, four of the eight thousand mountain peaks viz., Cho-oyu, Lhotse, Makalu and Everest expose them above everything else. Simultaneously a tremendous ice-ridge between Cho-oyu and Gyachung (7,9200m) reveals itself providing us the panoramas of the Khumbu region. An ideal hike as far as Gokyo RI is worthwhile too, depending upon the time factor and enduring abilities additional exploration and high altitude walking up to the Cho-La Pass (5,400m) can also be attempted. After accomplishing this incredible feat of exploring the turquoise lakes, various glaciers and towering peaks, we head back leisurely back to the Namche Bazaar and Lukla for a return flight back to Kathmandu.

Everest Gokyo Lake Trek poses a magnificent experience for the first timers as well as technically sound visitors with the classical trek delight in these mountain ranges along with the pristine waters of the Gokyo Lake. This particular trekking requires moderate level of physical fitness and is less strenuous too. Take a journey to one of the classical destinations for being amazed and allured till the memories last.
