Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek is a short trek also known as Poon Hill Trekking, covering large parts of the Annapurna circuit also. Apart from its breathtaking views of high mountains, it also facilitates and provides a chance to explore spectacular sights of Mount Dhaulagiri (8167m), Annapurna I (8,091m), Machhapuchre (6,990 m), Nilgiri, Annapurna south (7,291m), Annapurna II (7,9300m), Annapurna III (7,555m), Himchuli (6,441m) and Tuckuche peak (6,920m). This trek also gives and insight into the lives of the rural community and chance to mix with them as well.

The Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek is filled with various trekking opportunities and offers panoramas of the most wonderful mountains in the world. The journey starts from one of the picturesque city of Pokhara. During the trek the trail passes through the charming villages of the Gurungs, Magars, the local indigenous inhabitants for this region, followed all along by the rhododendron forests. The trekking trail then leads us to Tikhe Dhunga, another place filled with dense bamboo forests, cascading waterfalls, and few swimming holes. Noteworthy striking feature of this trekking which stands apart is it’s breathtaking view of the Himalayan sunrise from Ghorepani simply makes the trip interesting and captivating. The maximum elevation achieved is around 3210m. Day to Day Itinerary

Day 1 Day 01:Arrive in Kathmandu. Overnight at hotel in Kathmandu

Our Representative will be receiving you at the Airport. You will be then transferred via four wheel transport to your respective Hotel. You will be explained briefly about the program while you are on your way to Hotel as we also provide you the detail Itinerary. Rest of the day varies with your arrival time; we can organize some activities if you arrived by midday or early afternoon but late afternoon and evening arrivals have a free day for individual activities.

Day 2 Day 02: Kathmandu Valley Sightseeing. Overnight at Hotel in Kathmandu

Sightseeing starts with a visit to Bhaktapur Durbar square where it’s major attractions are Golden Gate, Nyatapole, 55 Window Palace, The Temple of Bhairavnath, Dattratraya Temple. After the visit of Bhaktapur, We continue our tour ahead to Patan Durbar Square to explore Krishna Mandir and Patan museum.  Afterwards, head on to Boudhanath Stupa, one of the biggest Buddhist shrines in the world, where we observe Buddhist monks in prayer in the monasteries surrounding the stupa. Then, On the way back to your hotel you can have a quick look at Pashupatinath Temple.

The rest of your time in Kathmandu is free for further exploration and some last-minute shopping in shopping areas nearby your hotel. Overnight at Hotel.

Day 3 Day 03: Fly to Pokhara from Kathmandu and drive to Nayapul, subsequently trek to Tirkhedhunga. Overnight at Teahouse/Lodge.

Morning fly to Pokhara and meet your guide and porters and drive to trek start point, Nayapul. The first days walk is generally just enough to stretch one’s legs and get you away from the road head. Flight’s consume only 30-35 Minutes and driving hour is 1 hours of your time. From Nayapul, we walk along the Modi Khola and follow the way through Birethanti (1015m), and Hille (1495m) to eventually reach Tikhedhunga (1577m). We stay overnight at a local guesthouse.

Day 4 Day 04: Trek from Tikhedhunga to Ghorepani. Overnight at Teahouse/Lodge.

Continue on to the village of Tirkedunga from where it is a steep climb on an infamous 2,767-step stone staircase to Ulleri.  From Ulleri, we ascend more gently through the fine forests of rhododendrons and oaks until one reaches the pass at Ghorepani. Walking time is up to 5 to 6 hours.

Day 5 Day 05: Hike up to Poon Hill (3210m) and trek to Tadapani. Overnight at Teahouse/lodge.

An early morning ascent of Poon Hill is recommended for a magnificent panoramic view of the mountain ranges. Annapurna South and Hiunchuli are up front, towering and prominent while Machapuchre looks a little less distinguished further to the east.

On returning from Poon Hill we make a gradual ascent that takes us eastwards for about an hour until we come to the crest of the hill. For a brief period, the trail becomes fairly even before it steeply descends through thick forest to Banthati where we stop for lunch. Banthati is a small place comprising of a few houses turned into lodges and restaurants. From here we descend for another hour before climbing a steep hill at the top of which lies Tadapani. Tadapani comprises of a few nicely built houses turned into lodges. The people here are all from Ghandrung and they settled here just for the purpose of setting up in business for the trekkers who pass this way. A more central and close-up view of Machapuchre can be enjoyed from here. 5-6 hours of one’s time is consumed.

Day 6 Day 06: Trek from Tadapani to Ghandruk (Ghandrung).Overnight at Teahouse/Lodge.

Our route continues downwards in a south-easterly direction through thick forest. After some time we leave the forest behind and cross sparsely covered hills. Going further down we arrive at Ghandrung in time for lunch. Ghandrung is a rich Gurung farming village standing on the west bank high above the river and offers a wonderful viewpoint.

The afternoon may be spent at leisure but it is well worth spending some time exploring the village and for the more energetic the route leading north out of the village with its picturesque houses with their slate and thatched roofs surrounded by slab courtyards. To the north also lies Huinchuli (21133’/6441m) connected by the razor sharp ridge which leads across to the peak of Annapurna South (23683’/7219m). The trail to the famous Annapurna Sanctuary lies between the guardian mountains of Huinchuli and Machapuchare.

Day 7 Day 07: Trek from Ghandruk to Landruk. Overnight at Teahouse/Lodge.

We will be drop down to the Modi Khola River bank and cross the bridge then the trail goes through hill terraced field climb up to Landruk village. At Landruk we will stop for the lunch and Overnight at this beautiful village above Modi Khola. The trek duration is from Four to Five hours.

Day 8 Day 08: Trek from Landrung to Phedi.Drive to Pokhara. Overnight at hotel in Pokhara.

Today further of Tolka about 1:30 hours climb up to the Pothana  Deurali and further up to beautiful Dampus village trail follows through the dense mossy jungle along the ridge of hills. Dhampus village offers you spectacular views of entire Annapurna Himalayan range. We leave Dhampus after exploring it for sometimes and we continue to Phedi  to catch the transportation to drive back to Pokhara on the same day. Overnight at hotel in Pokhara. Time covered by trek: 6 hours.

Day 9 Day 09:Fly from Pokhara To Kathmandu. Overnight at Hotel in Kathmandu.

After breakfast, fly back to Kathmandu. Rest day, shopping at your own, explore around Thamel area.

Day 10 Day 10: Final Departure

Our office staff will come to pick up you from the hotel to the airport for your final departure.Return back to your hometown taking with you the best memories of a lifetime………….. We wish for the safe and happy journey back to your home.
