Jomsom Muktinath Trekking starts with a long scenic drive to Pokhara from Kathmandu. A green filled drive takes you as far as Nayapul from where the actual trek starts. The initial steady trek leads us to Ghorepani, where we are greeted by marvelous colorful orchids in full bloom and spreading radiance of its vibrant colors amidst the clear views of the towering mountains is simply awesome specially the Mount Annapurna and Mount Dhaulagiri both standing tall at the vicinity of more than 8000 meters. Trekking through this region we come across Poon Hill ascending through rice terraces and indigenous villages occupied largely by Gurung communities shared along with Magar, Thakalis, Brahmins and Chhetri’s. A large proportion of our time is consumed by an enchanting day’s walk all along the landscapes encountered every day. An interesting and pleasantly surprising element awaits us ahead at Tatopani (hot spring water) a trickling hot water sprout allowing a sense of relaxation from an enduring adventurous excursion. Moving on after spending a quality time at Tatopani, the grandeur of Dhaulagiri glacier makes us speechless and provides us with pleasant windy jitters of the Tibetan plateau making way towards the holy Hindu pilgrimage site of Muktinath. An extraordinary place of natural elements which surprises tourist about its evolvement in the form of a miraculous eternal blue flame which has been aflame since centuries and is believed to be lighted by hindu god the Brahma. After having thoroughly admired the supernatural wonder and mythical existence of this flame we descend down towards the Jomsom village on the Tibetan plateau where we can glorify the gateway said to be “The Forbidden Kingdom of Mustang”. An, ancient place of, traditional trade route linking, India and Tibet and also a place where age old practices are still followed very ardently. This brings us to the brink of our exquisite journey here in Jomsom and from here we fly back to Pokhara and then back to Kathmandu.
