Tamang Heritage Trekking is an exciting opportunity to explore the untouched and preserved regions of scenic green midlands and ancient spiritual monasteries while trekking in Nepal. The extraordinary features of this trekking circuit, involves visiting age old Tamang monasteries, Parvatikunda, Bhairavkunda and Dudhkunda Lakes. Trekking alongside magnificent backgrounds of Jugal Himal and Ganesh Himal is simply outstanding. This trekking circuit fulfills the expectations of all trek lovers, as this region is bountiful granary of extraordinary natural beauty. Moreover this region holds almost 70 glaciers, which is there to be praised and noted.

Tamang Heritage Trekking trails starts from Syabrubesi and passes through Gatlang, Chilime, Thuman, Timure and Briddim Tamang villlage.The people of this region are mostly Tibetans who came from Kerung in Tibet across the border and settled in Nepal. The cultural and traditions of these people are similar to the Tibetan across the border. Gatlang is a traditional Tamang village set high on a hillside among terraced fields. One can also visit a Tamang monastery and the beautiful Parvatikunda Lake at Gatlang. From the viewpoint at Bahundanda near these settlements, called Parwati Kunda and one can also see a panoramic view of Lantang, Kerung, and the Ganesh Himal, Sanjen Himal ranges. Bathing in the hot, healing waters of the natural spring at Tatopani is an exhilarating experience. Nagathali in Thuman VDC is surrounded by beautiful views of Langtang, Kerung, Ganesh Himal and Sanjen Himal ranges. Nagthali used to be a popular meditation center for the local monks and priests. The ancient monasteries and houses adorned with rich wood engravings at Thuman village are an unforgettable experience. Timure is on the old trade route to Tibet. A suspension bridge here links Nepal and Tibet. Briddim village offers warm Tamang hospitality at the home – stays run by community members.

In addition, visitors can also visit local monasteries of Dukchu Gomba monastery chosen as sacred site by the great Tibetan Lama – Guru Rinpoche and Chukla Khnaga Gomba. The tamnag heritage trail trek ends at Syabrubensi or will head towards the Langtang trek via Sherpa gaun or Khanjim village. Day to Day Itinerary

Day 1 Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu. Overnight at hotel in Kathmandu

Your arrival to Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA), you will be met by our Airport Representative (office staff), and transfer to hotel. Overnight at hotel in Kathmandu

Day 2 Day 2: Guided Kathmandu Sightseeing. Overnight at hotel in Kathmandu

Full day sightseeing tour of Kathmandu valley which includes Pashupatinath Temple, Boudhanath, Swayambhunath and Kathmandu durbar square. Transfer to hotel. Overnight at hotel in Kathmandu

Day 3 Day 3: Drive to Syabrubesi (1550m): 145 km/8-9 hrs. Overnight at Lodge/ Tea House

Drive from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi by private air conditioned vehicle, the starting point of the trek. Behind Trisuli Bazaar the road is tricky because of the grubby road. During the travel you will pass through many small villages, you catch a glimpse of Ganesh Himal, terraces and green hills as well.

Day 4 Day 4: Trek from Syabrubesi to Gatlang (2200m)-5 hrs. Overnight at Lodge/ Tea House

After Breakfast we trek from Syabrubesi to Gatlang. While trekking you experience the Tamang culture. You can experience and view beautiful scenery from a perfect view points. You will also be experiencing cultural shows at Goljung & Gatlang which surely will make your trekking day a memorable one.

Day 5 Day 5: Trek from Gatlang to Tatopani (2607m)-6/7 hrs. Overnight at Lodge/ Tea House

Today after an early breakfast we head on to our next trek point, Tatopani which naturally signifies ‘hot water’. Here you can take hot bath in natural hot springs with bathing areas in the lap of the mountains.

On the way to tatopani you can enjoy the view of Langtang range and Ganesh Himal. Trek from Gatlang to Tatopani (2607m.) takes about six to seven hours.

Day 6 Day 6: Trek from Tatopani to Thuman (2400m) via Brimdang and Nagthali-6 hrs. Overnight at Lodge/ Tea House

After breakfast you trek to Thuman (2400m) today. Ongoing through the trail you can encounter animals like monkeys and deers. Panoramic view of Ganesh Himal, Langtang, Sanjen Range can be seen from Nagthali. You also trek to Thuman via Bimthang. Today is the day when you can enjoy the marvelous view of the mountain ranges. Overnight at Thuman

Day 7 Day 7: Trek from Thuman to Briddim (2345m)-6 hrs. Overnight at Lodge/ Tea House

Trek to Briddim a Tibetan Buddhist village in the bosom of Langtang Himal. It takes about 6 hrs to reach Briddim form Thuman. You can enjoy a cultural show here at Briddim performed by the community members for the guests. The houses at Briddim are made up of stones which have roofs of split slates. The tradition and culture of the people living here are similar to that of the Tibetan village people.

Day 8 Day 8: Trek from Briddim to Lama Hotel (2380m). Overnight at Lodge/ Tea House

After having breakfast, we head towards Lama Hotel from Briddim which takes approx. six hours to reach Lama Hotel.

Day 9 Day 9: Trek to Langtang Village (3430m) – 6/7 hrs. Overnight at Lodge/ Tea House

Today we trek to our next point, Langtang village (3430m.) via Ghore Tabela takes about six hours. The trip decends towards a steep forest slope of the River-Langtang River. As you continue climbing there are occasional glimpses of Langtang Lirung between the trees. At Ghora Tabela [3000m], the trail emerges from the forest. The trail continues to climb gently and the valley widens, passing a few temporary settlements used by herders who bring their livestock to graze in the high pastures during the summer months. There is a monastery, which you can visit shortly before arriving at the village of Langtang, the headquarters of the Langtang National Park.

Day 10 Day 10: Trek to Kyanjin Gompa (3870)-4 hrs. Overnight at Lodge/ Tea House

After breakfast, you will leave beautiful Langtang Village and start your trek for around three to four hours to visit Kyanjing Gompa. Kyanjin Gompa is the last destination of your trekking at an altitude of 3870m from sea level. The trail climbs gradually through small villages and yak pastures as the valley opens out further and the views become more extensive. After crossing several small streams and moraines, the trail reaches the settlement at Kyangjin. From here you will have beautiful views of Mt Ganchempo and Mt. Langtang Lirung. You will visit surrounding area like Yak cheese Factory, Kyanjin Monastery and local houses.

Day 11 Day 11: Trek back to Lama Hotel (2380)-4/5 hrs. Overnight at Lodge/ Tea House

Today you retract to Lama Hotel from our final destination Kyangin Gompa. Trek to Lama Hotel from Kyangin Gompa to Lama Hotel takes about six hours. From Kyangjin you retrace your route, following the Langtang Khola to Langtang village and on to Ghora Tabela. All the way downhill but you will see fantastic views of towering mountain what you have missed on the way up After lunch, you continue the steep descent to Lama Hotel.

Day 12 Day 12: Trek back to Syabrubesi (1550m)-5 hrs Overnight at Lodge/ Tea House

We head towards Syabrubesi after breakfast in the morning. We follow the same route that we trekked to reach Lama Hotel. From Lama Hotel we cross the forests, the suspension bridge over the Bhote Koshi and to arrive at Syabru Besi. With the arrival at Syabru Besi the trek to Langtang region end. Overnight at Syabrubesi.

Day 13 Day 13: Drive to Kathmandu. Overnight at hotel in Kathmandu

After Breakfast at the Lodge we depart from Syabrubesi to Kathmandu which takes about 7 to 8 hours. On your way to Kathmandu you get to observe views of Annapurna, Ganesh Himal, Manaslu and several peaks of Langtang range.

Day 14 Day 14: Final Departure

Our office staff will come to pick up you from the hotel to the airport for your final departure. We wish for your safe and happy journey back to home.

  • Nepal entry visa: you can obtain a visa easily upon your arrival at Tribhuwan International Airport in Kathmandu. (a multiple-entry tourist visa good for 30 days can be obtained by paying USD 40 or equivalent foreign currency. Similarly, multiple-entry tourist visas for 90 days can be obtained by paying USD 100. Please bring 2 copies of passport-size photos.).
