Bungamati is a small Newari Village in Lalitpur district of central Nepal, dating from 6th century and still abiding its tradition as their significant part of life. It is one of the most traditional villages in the valley. This village is very less influenced by the modern city which is just a few kilometer far from the village. It really shows true beauty of the still living age old culture and civilization.
Bungamati is birthplace of deity Rato Machhendranath and there is a large shikhara style temple of Rato Machhendranath. Here is also Karya Binayak temple which is also one of the most important temple in Nepal and it is dedicated to Lord Ganesha.Khokana Village is located 10 km south of Kathmandu city which has its own history and has retained its tradition and culture. This is a tiny Newar Village with a reputation for two things and they are- Unique harvesting process of mustard oil and local three storey temple. The farming community of Newar who live here are mostly dependent on agriculture and much of their daily activities take place outside of their dwelling and they really do seem to embrace nature.
