“As the dew is dried up by the morning sun, so are the sins of the human beings by the sight of Kailash & Lake Manasarovar” – Skanda Purana Mount Kailash; supremely sacred mountain, described in ancient texts as a fantastic ‘world pillar’ 84,000 miles high reaching from heaven to hell and around which all else revolves. Below it gleams the deep blue of Lake Mansarovar, where a ritual bath will deliver a pilgrim to Brahma’s paradise and a drink of its waters relinquishes the sins of a hundred lifetimes. Our trip begins with the drive from Kathmandu to the Tibetan border at Zhangmu and continue drive to Nyalam for overnight halt. We then drive across the ‘roof of the world’ to Lake Manasarovar. After completing a Kora around Mt Kailash and a holy dip in Manasarovar we retrace our route back to Kathmandu.
The significance of this trip is that you would be having the chances to visit the famous holy spots of Nepal including the biggest & most revered Hindu shrine – Pasupathinath temple, Buddhanilkantha, famous for it’s large idol of Naryan laying on the bed of snakes in water and the largest Buddhist Stupa – Boudhanath before commencing the trip of Mt. Kailash & Manasarovar.
