Naya Kanga (Ganja La Chuli) (5,844 m) is the marvelous looking peak to the south of Kyanjin Gompa, the destination village of the popular Langtang Trek. The summit of Naya Kanga offers stunning views of the peaks surrounding the Langtang Valley and into Tibet. Because of the accessibility of Langtang from Kathmandu, Langtang is a great choice for a short climbing trip.
The standard route to the summit is via the north-east ridge. The climb is mostly straightforward, however there is one rather steep section where belaying is necessary. Approaching the route on the trail across the Ganja La, it crosses the direct pass from Langtang to Helambu. The climb can be incorporated into a crossing of the pass and it can be done with two camps. The first is Ganja La base camp, which lies about 500 meters above Kyanjin Gompa and the second is a high camp at around 4,900 meters.
