Overview

Traverse through the iconic foothills of the Annapurna range, famous for its diverse landscapes, adverse climatic conditions, and culturally enriching villages. The Annapurna Himalayan Range represents the central core of the great Himalayan arc and is among the world's most sought-after trekking routes.

Tilicho Lake situated at 4,919 meters is one the World’s highest lakes. The shimmering crystal clear turquoise water of Tilicho is a sight to behold. To visit Tilicho Lake, we trek into the Khangsar Region towards the west from Manang village, instead of heading North to Yak Kharka like the classic Annapurna Circuit Trek. From Tilicho Lake we take an alternate route to Yak Kharka as we rejoin the Circuit trail.

Beginning at an altitude of 822 meters in Pokhara, this journey allows for comprehensive exploration of the Himalayas. The mountains are vast, snow-covered and jagged in all directions. The sky is a sharp, mesmerizing blue. The air is pure with subtle scents of juniper and rhododendron  This remarkable Annapurna Trek guides travelers through picturesque villages, inhabited by a rich tapestry of ethnic communities, and unveils awe-inspiring panoramas of the majestic Himalayan range. The scenery transitions seamlessly from the northern face of the primary Himalayan peaks to the elevated and arid expanse of the Tibetan Plateau.

Annapurna Circuit Length and Elevation

Trek Length

  • 15 Days
  • 2 Nights in Pokhara
  • 2 Nights in Kathmandu

Elevations

The elevation factor poses a significant challenge throughout the trek, beginning at Syange the towards Manang with an altitude exceeding 3,500m. Since most individuals aren't accustomed to such heights, the journey incorporates acclimatization days. The Annapurna Circuit Trek is deliberately slow to allow for acclimatization and prioritize safety over speed.

Typically, daily elevation gains will fall within the 500-800m range. After days with substantial gains and higher altitudes, there's a pattern of including acclimatization days. These days serve a dual purpose, providing time for sightseeing and exploring the surrounding areas.

Freqeuntly Asked Questionnaire

Annapurna Circuit Trek with Tilicho Lake trek is a trekking activity done around the Annapurna Massif, where we visit one of the highest lakes in the world. This trek takes us through some of the most lush Himalayan vegetation as well as the most barren and arid landscapes Nepal has to offer.

The most common way to start the Annapurna Circuit Trek is by flying to Pokhara from Kathmandu and then driving to Syange from there you can trek through the Annapurna Region. The trek typically takes around 12 days.

The best time to trek the Annapurna Circuit is during the pre-monsoon (spring) season (March to early June) and post-monsoon (autumn) season (Mid September to November) when the weather is relatively stable, and the skies are clear.

You will need one permit: ACAP Permit. Additionally, you will need a TIMS (Trekkers’ Information Management System) card.

The trek is challenging, and a good level of physical fitness is required. Regular cardiovascular exercises and strength training are recommended to prepare for the altitude and the demanding terrain.

Altitude sickness is a condition that occurs at higher elevations due to a decrease in the amount of oxygen. To prevent altitude sickness, it's essential to acclimatize properly, stay hydrated, and ascend gradually. If symptoms persist, descending to a lower altitude is crucial.

Essential items include sturdy trekking boots, warm clothing, a good backpack, and a first aid kit. It's essential to pack light but be prepared for changing weather conditions.

The temperature rating of the ISO-certified sleeping bag we lend is -10°C (50°F) comfort level.

We recommend having cash of around USD 15-20; it should suffice for any additional costs you may need for a day.

Mountain Tiger Nepal has cancellation and refund policies. Please visit our terms and conditions page for more information.
