Mountain Tiger is renowned for its adept leadership on treks, boasting experienced guides and attentive staff who cater to every aspect of your journey for nearly two decades. As a certified sustainable travel operator, we wholeheartedly support the concept of community contribution, engaging in diverse philanthropic endeavors.

The most common way to start this trek is by flying to Lukla Airport from Kathmandu and then trekking through the Khumbu Valley. The trek typically takes around 13 days, passing through Namche Bazaar and other picturesque villages.

The best time to trek to Gokyo is during the pre-monsoon (spring) season (March to early June) and post-monsoon (autumn) season (Mid September to November) when the weather is relatively stable, and the skies are clear.

You will need two main permits: the Sagarmatha National Park Entry Permit and the Khumbu Pasang Lhamu Rural Municipality Entry Permit. Additionally, if you are flying to Lukla, you will need a TIMS (Trekkers’ Information Management System) card.

The trek is challenging, and a good level of physical fitness is required. Regular cardiovascular exercises and strength training are recommended to prepare for the altitude and the demanding terrain.

Altitude sickness is a condition that occurs at higher elevations due to a decrease in the amount of oxygen. To prevent altitude sickness, it's essential to acclimatize properly, stay hydrated, and ascend gradually. If symptoms persist, descending to a lower altitude is crucial.

Essential items include sturdy trekking boots, warm clothing, a good backpack, a sleeping bag, and a first aid kit. It's essential to pack light but be prepared for changing weather conditions.

The temperature rating of the ISO-certified sleeping bag we lend is -10°C (50°F) comfort level.

We recommend having cash of around USD 15-20; it should suffice for any additional costs you may need for a day.
